* Store vaccines in the middle of the refrigerator, not in the door or against the back of the refrigerator. The most common cause of vaccine freezing is placing it at the back of the refrigerator or next to the freezer compartment.
* Keep a thermometer in the refrigerator to ensure proper temperature.
* Rotate the vaccine supply so that the newest vaccines with the longest expiration dates are placed behind short-dated vaccine.
* Do not use an outdated vaccine. There is no guarantee that it is effective after the expiration date.
* Place the vaccine in a cooler while transporting it to the barn so that it doesn't warm up.
* If a vaccine has been frozen or exposed to warm temperatures, discard it.
